The cradle is designed for newborns until sitting up. It can be used for older babies if supervised, we recommend that for older, active babies the cradle is hung low to the ground or above a soft surface.
The cradles work beautifully hanging above or near your own bed, so the baby can be quickly and gently rocked back to sleep through the night.
Never leave a baby unsupervised, and always supervise the activity of other young children around the cradle.
To Hang
Swings can be hung on a branch or beam using the rope supplied, or attached to a hook (not supplied). If purchasing a hook make sure it has a minimum diameter of 8mm, and is screwed fully into the support with no thread showing. (see diagram).
You can hang them at any height that suits.
Care
The timber is untreated, so we suggest Oil the timber with linseed oil occasionally, or you may wish to apply a varnish or stain.
The canvas should be kept clean by dry brushing or hosing. Any food or dirt will affect the teflon coating (weatherproofing) so keeping it clean will help its longevity. You can sponge wash with a mild detergent, but avoid harsh scrubbing as this will also damage the weatherproof coating. If stained, a dilute solution of bleach can be used. The fabric is quite mould resistant, but only if completely clean.
The mattress cover is 100% cotton, it can be machine washed in warm water and tumble dried. We have allowed for a small amount of shrinkage.
